The women in our family have always loved lively conversations — sharing stories and memories, relating to one another, and sometimes contrasting their experiences. Only fragments of these dialogues remain in memory, but there was always the possibility of speaking again — until there wasn’t.

About ten years ago, I recorded conversations with my mother and grandmother using a new recorder. These recordings, together with family photographs and home videos, have become personal artefacts that revive memories, allow for a renewed dialogue with my mother and grandmother, and help preserve their presence for future generations too young to remember them clearly.

The video was created as a personal introduction to the exhibition From Mother to Daughter, From Daughter to Mother, which I co-curated.
